Well one of my first assignments for my illustration class over at Cal State Fullerton was to create a piece using only line, form, and texture and only in black and white. We also had to have opposition to the word in the piece. We were given random words and I got psychedelic. So it was tough to do that concept with out color. The only thing that I could think of that would oppose psychedelic was something mundane so I thought a city was a nice way to go.
What you see now is just me playing with it after I finished painting it with India Ink. When I had photographed it the light in my room was causing some change in color and contrast, after a while I gave up trying to match what I saw and just messed with it.
I was inspired by the "White Rabbit" song by Jefferson Airplane.
Compositionally and conceptually, this is excellent. Quite different than your usual stuff. I like the contrast between the square city shapes and swirly lines.
The girl looks a little slapdash. Her head/hair could use a little more curvyness to it, as could her torso.
